Description
You have joined a Geological Society field expedition, unearthing countless fossil fragments and mineral specimens from ancient sedimentary rock layers. Now, working in a makeshift tent laboratory, you must sift through a dense array of rock cores and debris to identify key specimens—those bearing distinct leaf veins or skeletal imprints—to help map out the prehistoric world.
Gameplay & Skill Set: “Texture-based searching” is the core mechanic, requiring you to recognize the specific grain and pattern of various fossils. Skills include the “Acid Dropper,” which briefly highlights the contrast between the fossil and the surrounding rock, and “Rubbing Paper,” which transfers surface textures onto the page, making hard-to-see details instantly clear. Level Overview: The first 1,200 levels comprise the “Fern Zone,” featuring mostly flat leaf fossils; levels 1,200–2,400 enter the “Shellfish and Ammonite Zone,” where spiral and striped patterns can easily be confused; and levels 2,400–3,600 present the challenge of the “Bone Fragment Zone,” where irregularly shaped bone pieces are concealed among numerous similar-looking rock fragments, testing your ability to precisely discern details of their outlines.
